This page explains who creates Chancepedia, how we check what we publish and how we fix mistakes. It applies to every post, tool and glossary entry. Review dates and sources appear on each page so you can see how current it is.
Why we publish
We publish to help people understand games of chance and make informed, safer choices. We do not publish to promote gambling, and we are not paid by gambling companies.
Who creates the content
Content is produced by the Chancepedia editorial team, working with industry veterans, subject experts and experienced enthusiasts. The team is responsible for everything published under the Chancepedia name. Each page shows the date it was last verified.
How we research
- We use primary and authoritative sources: game rules from the official rule-makers, laws and regulations from official government sources, odds and probabilities from mathematics we can show, and health information from recognised health bodies.
- Every house edge, payout and odds figure shows its source or its calculation, and the rules it assumes. Figures change with table rules, so we state the assumptions.
- We do not rely on a single source for a claim that matters. Where sources disagree, we say so.
- Sources are listed at the end of the page, with the date we checked them.
What we check before publishing
- Numbers are calculated or cross-checked, and calculators are tested against worked examples.
- Strategy posts must state the house edge and its source, and must not claim a result is guaranteed.
- Posts about law, tax or safety are reviewed by a second editor with the relevant background before publication.
- Posts that mention help for gambling problems link to our Get help page, and helpline details are checked and dated.
- We avoid language that promises wins, such as “guaranteed”, “sure bet” or “risk free”.
What we will not publish
- Links to betting sites or casinos, referral codes, bonuses or tipster services.
- Predictions or tips on the outcome of specific events.
- Content aimed at people under the legal gambling age.
- Claims that a system can beat a game with a negative expected return.
Keeping content current
- Law and regulation posts are rechecked at least every 6 months.
- Odds, house edge and strategy posts are rechecked at least every 12 months, or sooner when the rules of a game change.
- Tools and calculators are retested after any change.
- Each page shows its “last verified” date. If a page is older than our recheck cycle, it carries a notice until it is rechecked.
