Decimal odds

Odds written as a single number showing the total return, stake included, for each 1 unit staked. Common outside the US.

Decimal odds show the total payout for each unit bet, including the stake. To find the profit, subtract 1. To find the implied probability, divide 1 by the decimal odds. Decimal odds are easy to compare and to multiply, which makes combining selections in an accumulator simple. Prices in decimal, fractional and American formats are different ways of writing the same value.

Example

Decimal odds of 4.00 on a 10 unit stake return 40 units, a profit of 30. The implied probability is 1 divided by 4.00, which is 25%.
