Cashout

An offer to settle a bet early for a set amount before the event ends. The amount is set by the bookmaker and is usually below fair value.

A cashout lets a bettor take a fixed amount now instead of waiting for the final result. The price offered depends on how the bet is going and includes a margin in the bookmaker’s favor, so it is usually lower than the bet’s true fair value. Cashing out gives up the chance of a bigger win and also removes the chance of losing the whole stake. It is not available on every bet, and offers can change or be withdrawn quickly during live events.

Example

A bet staked at 10 would pay 40 if it wins. Midway through, the offer to cash out is 18. Taking it ends the bet with a profit of 8 whichever way the event goes.
